Korean Dosa Mastiff (Mee Kyun Dosa)

            To all who are unfamiliar with this breed, they are a large mastiff type dog.  It is believed that the Tosa, Dogue De Bordeaux, Neapolitan Mastiff,  English Mastiff and some even believe the Blood Hound was later introduced into creating this breed.  You will be hard pressed to find a breeder here in Canada or the U.S. and there are very few breeders on the internet to research either.  So my warning to all is be very careful on who you chose to import one of these magnificent dogs from.  I say this from experience I recently contacted a breeder I found on the internet by the name of Min Woo Lee & Joo Eun Sang.  The kennel name is Red Dragon Kennels out of South Korea.  I have come to find out that Red Dragon Kennels is not even a breeder of the Dosa or Tosa but rather a Dog Importer. We made an agreement in November 2005 that I would wire transfer $6200.00 US dollars to his account in Korea for the purchase of a breeding pair of Dosa's from different bloodlines at 8 weeks of age, (I was planning on introducing the Dosa's here in Canada and the US).  After all the arrangements were made, I then transferred the money into his account. He then got back in touch with me to tell me he received the money and will be arranging shipping.  After 2 weeks and no word on the shipping date, I got back in touch with him, he then told me there is a problem with the airline shipping them in the cold weather (which is understandable).  So I told him to send the money back to me and we will do it again in the spring.  His reply was a  "No refund Policies" ( This was the first sign he would not give me his promise).  He then contacted me and asked me to send him a Bichon Frise pup to Korea I then told him " I will gladly send you a Bichon Frise pup when I get the 2 Dosa's that I already paid for or my money back.  He even went as far as saying I requested Adult Dosa's to be shipped here to me. After fighting back and forth for weeks I finally gave in and told him to just send me a breeding pair of young adults, he then told me he wanted another $ 11,800.00 US dollars for the adults.  I then told him I did not want adult dogs in the first place so I would not give him anymore money.  Then 6 months later he said he had different pups to send but wanted another $1000.00 US each pup.  To get things over with I told him I would give him the other $2000 US for them but I will pay either by post dated cheque or P.O.D. I was even willing to have someone I know in Korea to hand deliver the money and they will take the pups and ship them here to me ( that's what I should have done in the first place), He would not go for any of the proposals I gave him and he told me he does not deal with 3rd parties ( I wonder why ).  So After Months of  getting excuse after excuse and calling the number on his web site and the other number he gave me with his banking information and being told it is the wrong number (I even had a Korean translator call to be sure I was calling the right number). I finally had enough and contacted the Korean Police who did absolutely nothing for me or if they did he probably paid them off.  So I then got in contact with the Korean embassy and my own Government office here in Canada all they could do for me is recommend some lawyers.  So I did some checking of my own on the internet and found a couple of internet complaint centers one being the RCMP so I made complaints with them and i also put complaits on korean lawyers pages. Now it is April 2006 and he contacts me though e mail and tells me if I send him a Presa Canrio pup he will then send me one of the 2 pups I already paid for in Nov 2005, After he has been saying all along he has no pups and can only ship adults.  So just wanting to get this over with I told him I could send him the Presa pup he wants all he has to do is send me $2500.00 plus the shipping cost and I will send it.  But that's not what he wanted he wanted me to take another $2500 out of my pocket send it to him and he will send me one of the 2 pups I already paid for. So in short it would have cost $8700.00 US dollars and I probably would have never seen one of his Dosa's anyway. I guess he thought I was stupid enough to send him $6200.00 dollars the first time so why wouldn't I be stupid enough to believe him a second time. But at this point I had no other choice but to be stupid and send the other $2000us to him it was either that or loose the $6200us he already got so I took another chance and sent it.  Come June 2006 I finally did recevie 2 Dosa pups but not at the 8 weeks of age as agreed apon or the ones he showed me pictures of which were very promissing Dosa's instead they were very sick 4 week old pups ( YES I SAID 4 WEEKS ) all the way from Korea to Canada. That is not right for any breeder to do that to a pup, but it was proably for their best as if left there with out medical attention they may not have made it, and I belive it worked out for the best as they are turning out very nice now and if they would have been healthy from the start he may have never sent me any pups. I have read another SAD STORY on the internet about a gentlemen from England purchasing a Dosa From Red Dragon Kennels and it died shotly after receiving it from Red dragon. But the thing that really upsets me is here we are over a year later and I still have No pedigree I was promised from the start, I tried and tried to be nice to this man so I would receive my papers for them, but I now belive he had no intension on ever sending any papers for them so my time of being nice is over now. I do not want to see anyone else ever get taken advantage of as I did. As he is a very smooth talker and will convince you of what ever you need to hear to get your money. I just want everbody to do their homework before sending any money to Red Dragon Kennels (dog importer).

 I am now getting emails from many other people who have sent money to red dragon and they have not recevied their pups as promissed, and red dragon will not even anwser their emails back, much the same as he did to me. One of the people who has contacted me told me he got ripped off by red dragon as far back as 2004 so red dragon has been getting away with this for too long he needs to be shut down. This is the reason i am posting this on my site as i do not want anyone else to be taken from red dragon kennels. 

                 I just wanted to share my experience with you so maybe if you ever decide to import a dog from someone you will do some better research on the person you are buying from, because I don't ever want to hear of someone else going through what I am going through now.  If there is anybody reading this with a similar experience please get in touch with me I would like to hear your story.  

     Again, becareful with any dealing with Red Dragon Kennels I do not recommend sending any money to him.
